Complaining

Is complaining good or bad for you?  No one really wants to hear it and even fewer care about your complaints.  Yet everyone has them.  Mr. Pichler has plenty; yet, he doesn't care to hear mine.  Maybe that is where blogging comes in.  Perhaps blogging is the release valve for the pressure that builds up if one doesn't complain.  Does one have to complain??  I think I do.  There are so many idiots in the world.  People rarely listen to themselves.  Literally, people seldom make sense.

The science of complaining.  I wonder what studies have been done.  I think I *need* to complain or I'll burst.  But how much of complaining points me right back into the problem; thus, not allowing me to move on?

Paper Clips Go In the Corner!!

Paper clips should be placed in the upper left hand corner of the document.  If you hand me a document with the paper clip in the upper middle of the page, you are showing me you have NOT reviewed your document.  At least make it look like you care about your work, even if you don't.

Spanking

I was looking around Amazon.com and noticed there was a blog of some sort of which the topic was spanking.  They were questioning if it was an act of love and most all had posted that it was not and cited quotations of people I've never heard of before of how messed up the kids will be if spanked.

Nonesense.

Spanking or not spanking don't determine the outcome of the child's worth or self-worth.  Spanking, when used in moderation and in conjunction with an effective method of discipline is an acceptable form (IMHO) of teaching right and wrong. The problems seems to lie in the "effective method of discipline".  It's not enough to just love them, feed them, and play with them.  They need to be taught right from wrong.  They aren't born knowing this.  Therefore, an effective method of discipline is essential.  From my observations, this is missing in a lot of families.

Very few spankings were handed out by my parents.  Very few were handed out by me to my kids.  But when they were handed out, the reason was known and it was a SERIOUS offense leading to this form of punishment (i.e. running into the street, misbehaving in the car).

The most important part of discipline is following through.  Never give an empty threat.  If you tell the child to expect a consequence if something isn't done, they *have* to receive that consequence if it isn't done.  Every time.  If you're one that counts to three, that "three" better mean something each time.  If you're that grounds, then the grounding better be enforced.

I was spanked and so were my kids.  We're all okay.
